COVID-19
In line with current Government guidance, schools are fully open and children should attend regularly as required.
This is all part of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown which is outlined below. As part of this approach, schools are required to follow DfE Operational Guidance (see attached below) which removes many restrictions during summer 2021. However, we are required to maintain an Outbreak Management Plan (OMP) in order to reintroduce enhanced restrictions in the case of an outbreak or change in advice. Therefore, on this page, you will find information about our procedures and protocols at King George V in those circumstances.

Coronavirus Advice & Information
Whilst the Government are removing many restrictions during the summer of 2021, Covid is still in circulation in society and we must all take care to avoid the risk of infection. The main way you can help do this is ensure you take the vaccination when eligible.
Please also take note of the following as you can help to slow the spread of Covid by ensuring you and your children follow these general principles to stop the spread of the respiratory virus:
- Wash your hands often, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based sanitiser if soap and water aren't available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Keep your child home from school if they have symptoms (for at least 10 days or until a negative PCR test) . Any updated guidance or advice about isolation periods is available by CLICKING HERE.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue then throw the tissue in a bin.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the home.
- Continue to test yourself regularly using Lateral Flow Devices (LFD) tests at home. These are available by CLICKING HERE.
The most common symptoms of Coronavirus are:
- a high temperature (37.8%+)
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
If anybody in your household has displayed symptoms then it is important that they isolate and book a PCR test ASAP.
From 16th August, children are not required to isolate if they have been in contact with somebody who has tested positive. Children are only required to isolate if they have symptoms or have tested positive.
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.

We would ask you to keep in touch with school via telephone or electronic communication so we can take necessary precautions in terms of advising others about isolation.
Outbreak Management Plan
From September 2021, the Government have instructed for there to be removal of many of the restrictions and measures which we have become accustomed to (as per the guidance above). However, in the event of an outbreak or in light of public health advice, we may be required to increase restrictions for a period of time.
Below, you will find our procedures which we will evoke in this circumstance. Any changes will be communicated to our community with as much notice as possible. However, we do have to be responsive to local or national guidance.
If you are worried about arrangements because your child is extremely clinically vulnerable, or living with somebody who is, then please discuss this with a member of staff by contacting the school. Similarly, if your child has an underlying health condition which you believe makes them vulnerable, please do get in touch with the school.

In the event that somebody at school tests positive for COVID-19 symptoms, we are obliged to share the data we have available with NHS Test & Trace. This includes the names of people who have been in close contact and their contact details. Information about the NHS Test & Trace service, and the information we share, is available to download below.
NB: We already hold this information for pupils and staff so you do not need to complete this form.
In the event of an outbreak of COVID-19, King George V Primary School will work closely with Public Health England and agree any 'local lockdown' or quarantine procedures necessary and we shall communicate this appropriately. However, please note, we shall not disclose who has tested positive with symptoms. In the event of any school closure, we shall switch to our Virtual School ASAP and communicate accordingly.
