Relationship & Health Education (RHE)
At King George V, we teach the majority of our PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education) curriculum using a scheme called Jigsaw. The Jigsaw curriculum overviews are included below for your information. Further information about our curriculum is available below but do get in touch if you have any questions.
Relationship & Health Education (RHE)
Our RHE curriculum is designed to match guidelines from the Department for Education. Any changes to our approach shall be noted on this page and, where changes are made, there shall be full consultation with parents/carers.
If parents/carers wish to withdraw their child from the Sex Education elements of the RHE curriculum (although it is important to note that some aspects are covered within the 'health' part of the RHE curriculum), they should contact the Head Teacher. Please note that Sex Education is not the same as Relationships Education so a conversation with school is important to ensure there is a full understanding of the aspects of the curriculum a child can be withdrawn from.
Currently, at King George V Primary School, we do not teach any additional optional elements of Sex Education beyond those which are statutory as part of RHE.
Parent Consultation Feedback and Response:
Following a 4-week consultation period where draft curriculum policies, plans and curriculum overviews were made available to parents/carers, we are now able to share the feedback we received and the response of school leaders and governors.
The Senior Leadership Team has discussed these responses with the Governing Body. They do not consider, following a review of feedback from parents/carers, that there is a need to review or adapt the planned teaching of RHE. Therefore, the school shall continue to implement from September 2021.
