All staff and children had a brilliant week last week celebrating World Book Day! There were so many activities that helped us to celebrate the joy of reading.
On Monday, we had very special presents to unwrap. Inside was a special book for every class to read during the week . We really enjoyed reading the stories.
Willy Wonka left lots of golden tickets around school. They were really hard to find but when we did, we received a scrumptious treat!
On Wednesday, we were lucky enough to be visited by the author, Katie Smith who has written the “Pumpkin Project.” Katie was brilliant and gave us lots of tips to become a writer.
Thursday was the big day when we came to school dressed up as our favourite Roald Dahl characters. It was really funny seeing everyone in their costumes! We had a fantastic day making dream jars, building dens for Matilda, making chocolate cakes, designing World Book Day tokens, making insect masks and making our own marvellous medicines. We were really inspired to read a lot more!
That evening, we came back to school in our pyjamas and brought our blankets and pillows for a bedtime story and film night. We love the BFG!
We have also had the Storyplayers in who have done some drama and illustration workshops with us all based on popular stories.
